turtlehead

We're trying to sell my Mom's motorhome. On the one hand, it feels very practical and right to sell because it's been a year and a half since my Dad died and my Mom doesn't want the burden of upkeep and doesn't drive it either. On the other hand, it's sentimental and another letting go of my Dad - or rather living on without him. Will he seem to just get farther and farther away until I can't remember him? I don't want to forget him and I also know he's more than a motorhome in the driveway. It's strange how grieving is still happening.

Grace and Peace,
Jane

My mother told me that as she grows older her memories of her growing up years became clearer and clearer to her. He father died when she was 18 and she says that she dreams about him all the time and can see his face better today then ever before.

This was a really wonderful post. Thanks for sharing you...with all of us.

yea...it will be wierd to see the motor home go, but dad would be the first one to say "AGH...don't mind it" (along with a shrug of his shoulders). We will never forget him...he was a great dad and quite a character! love you Jane!! xoxoxox

Yes, how well we know about the difficult balance between practicality and sentimentality. Keeping the albums available, and talking about the memories helps keep them alive.

...i still tell myself that my Grandpa is living in Arizona for the winter...he past away 10 years ago...i think about him all the time and wonder if i will ever be able to visit his grave...i don't think we will ever stop grieving or loving the ones we have love.

Hi Jane - wow, you and I have a lot of the same plants in our gardens. First the anemone, now the turtlehead! My turtlehead plant loves it's spot (and Michigan soil!) and what a great bloom to get this time of year. I really enjoy your photography.
