This plant had lots of blooms this morning. Tonight there weren't any. I looked in one of our gardening books and it said that each bloom only lasts a day. I must admit this hasn't been one of my favorite plants in the garden. The leaves are a light green and the bloom is kinda purple-blue. But Mike thought it was cool, so it went in our garden a few years ago. Now that I know each bloom only lasts a day, I will go out and appreciate it's unique beauty.
This morning I am watching the pouring rain. Thankful. My wise gardener daughter told me recently that I would feel differently about the rain now that I have a vegetable garden. She was right.
Last night we had a frost warning. We even waited to plant most of our vegetable garden til Memorial Day like you're supposed to. Everything survived thankfully.
Today we harvested these radishes from our garden plot. They were delicious!
When Joshua was 3 or 4 years old he went with Mike to the Secretary of States office. While they were waiting, some rough looking young men walked in. Little Josh started singing, "bad boys, bad boys what ya gonna do, what ya gonna do when they come for you." - a catchy tune. People started snickering and Mike tried to distract Joshua.
Today was a beautiful day. I helped my Mom in her garden. We bought some new perennials, mulch, manure, and a couple geraniums. After we had coffee with my Aunt Betty, we planted and mulched. It looked great when we were done and I gave my Mom a high five.
I woke up grouchy and tired and sneezy (spring allergies). 
It's open house season for graduates. Even though it's fun to joke about all the hoopla involved in putting on an open house or attending one, I think it's a wonderful way to acknowledge a milestone in someone's life. Today I'm going to a celebration for a high school senior. I remember when she was born...waiting and waiting and waiting with Cheri for this baby to arrive. We celebrated then and we celebrate now. Congratulations!
I went to a funeral today for my Mom's cousin. At funerals you get to hear about what's important in a life. The personal rememberances of who that person was and how they were loved are one of my favorite parts. Stories are shared afterward (over ham and buns of course) and I enjoy listening to them. Funerals have a way of putting me in touch with what's real and important in life.
I'm in two bookclubs - the Boomerangs and the Cover to Cover Girls. For the Cover to Cover girls we read Back When We Were Grownups by Anne Tyler. This has been one of my favorite books for the last few years. It starts out - "Once upon a time, there was a woman who discovered she had turned into the wrong person." The book is about a 53 year old widow who through the book is on a journey to discover her life has turned out just the way it was supposed to. The characters are quirky and funny and it's also touching and tender.
We have sprouts in our vegetable garden. Our 12.5'x50' plot of dirt has this growing!!! yippee! They are radishes or lettuce. We don't care what they are, we just love them.
Since I'm new to this blog world I had to ask around to see what it meant to be tagged on a blog. Well, I figured it out and so I filled out the rest of these sentences for Sara and Allison (you know who you are!) It was actually kinda of fun.

Saturday I was in Holland hanging out with my Mom. The tulips are beautiful and the trees are in bloom. It's lovely. We went to the arts and crafts fair and I got to see the Klompen dancers. I remember how much fun dutch dancing was when I was in High school. Yes, I was a dutch dancer. An awesome one I 'm sure. The whole week of Tulip Time was always exciting.
