jamie graduation

We had a good weekend of celebration with family and friends. Congratulations Jamie!

"After each one of our children went away to the university, there always came a time when we would feel the distance opening to them, pulling them away. It was like sitting snug in the house, and a door is opened somewhere, and suddenly you feel a draft." - Hannah Coulter by Wendell Berry.

peony bud

Last year Linda gave me a bunch of peonies from her studio garden. There are lots of buds on them which we thought would take a year after being transplanted. But we will have blooms already this year. Thanks Linda and Scott!

tulips

On Mother's day we visited the tulips in Holland. We also visited my Mom. A good day.

Today is Joshua's 17th birthday. I often wish I could just push a button and my kids would be little again....just for a little while. We could laugh and snuggle. Then I would (quickly) push the button again and they would be grown because I like them older too. Josh was the cutest little redhead. He still is...just not little anymore or as red. Love Love.

wild ginger

I had never seen or noticed wild ginger before. It is a very small wildflower that was hiding under it's leaves. I would have walked right over it if Christie hadn't pointed it out.

pot of ferns

For a few years this broken pot has rested between the patio and deck. I don't move it because it would fall apart, so it sits there all winter and summer. Every year these sweet ferns pop up. I am always surprised and glad to see them.

bleeding heart

A week ago this bleeding heart was barely poking through the ground. It's always amazing to me how fast they grow.

"They (God's people) are the shoot I have planted,
the work of my hands,
for the display of my splendor."
Isaiah 60:21b
