tricyrtis, toadlilly

This small flower is by my front door.

Last Sunday I attended the church service at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. It is quite an experience to worship with men and women in uniform. There was a choir of plebes (1st year students) all in their white uniforms. A cool sight to someone unaccustomed to seeing the military. One of the hymns we sang had this verse:

Cure Thy children's warring madness,
Bend our pride to Thy control.
Shame our wanton selfish gladness,
Rich in things and poor in soul.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
Lest we miss Thy Kingdom's goal.
Lest we miss Thy Kingdom's goal.

It gave me hope.
Grace and Peace,
Jane

I hope you sang good and loud at the Naval Academy....so the female voice was heard!

This is a beautiful picture of a lovely flower.
We have a friend (one of Steven's pals from Cedar) at the naval academy.
I know that hymn, hope some of the people there, especially leadership type people, were paying attention to the words.

Attending the worship service at the Naval Academy always encourages me in knowing that the Word is alive in that place. These men and women are to be commended and held up in our prayers. Oh...Janes voice was one of many female voices belting out those glorious hymns. :)
