This is one of the few blooms on our magnolia tree this year. It looks like some animal ate the buds off and left the ones on the very end of the branches.
I think Pachysandra is under appreciated. It stays green and hangs in there all winter. Then when it blooms in the spring, no one notices because of all the bright spring colors. It's flowers are described as "almost insignificant from an ornamental perspective". Well, today I celebrate the Pachysandra!!
I should be posting a picture of a bright spring flower today, but I found this milkweed while helping to clear out the community garden. I just liked it.
I bought these pansies last weekend to put in the big pots on our front porch. They say welcome spring...are you here? 
This bulldog bottle opener is the newest addition to our backyard garden. On Friday we attached it to our fence, opened two beers, and welcomed the beginning of a new gardening season.
This blue squill is in my backyard. Today is going to be sunny and 70. I am looking forward to doing some yard work and seeing what is coming up again.
Last night at my cover-t0-cover-girls book club, we discussed Toni Morrison's book A Mercy. At least 4 of the women there commented that their college-age children wanted to read it after them and were impressed that their mom was reading this book. Why does this make us so darn happy? I think we care about what our children think of us (maybe too much) and like it when our children notice we aren't so unaware after all. (Even though some of us needed our children to explain Ms. Morrison to us.)
We visited a farm and this old barn on our way back from Florida. I played around in photoshop and I think the picture turned out kinda cool.
I cut branches off my mom's forsythia last week and they have bloomed. It won't be long and we will see some outside.
